The well planned itinerary includes two days in Moscow and three days in St Petersburg where a full sightseeing programme is arranged with excellent local guides. The journey between Moscow and St Petersburg includes three days exploring the cities of the Golden Ring. These marvellously historic and atmospheric reminders of Russia’s intriguing past, with their kremlins and elaborately decorated cathedrals, offer a very different insight to that of the big cities.
By way of a complete contrast the itinerary continues into the forests and lakes of Kareliya, a beautiful area of seemingly endless forests and rolling green landscapes. Here we will pass villages and hamlets with a timeless quality as we navigate the great lakes of Ladoga and Onega and travel along the Svir River.
